Sean Flinn and the Royal We with Greylag and M. Billy @ The Woods, February 3, 2011
This is a night that’s seriously packing it in. Lance Bangs, as one might assume, has excellent taste in his Favorite Things. Benefiting the Hollywood Theatre, Bangs is curating a night that features comedians from Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Super 8mm films (including from Bangs himself!), storytelling, DJ sets from Carrie Brownstein and DJ Nightschool (Nathan from the Gossip), photo booth portraits, a Sketchy Food Cart installation and live music from Mister Heavenly. Damn.
EMERGENCY VIDEO EXHIBITION:
“Maybe sub-sub-titled “Détourned to Insouciance,” this emergency video exhibition gathers recent and un(/der)seen appropriative works. Funny strange, funny haha. Dada Lama, start making sense. Stop making that racket, Henry; stop making that tennis ball.”
This first Thursday you should head over to NW because Ray Gordon will be showing traditional rods and motorcycle prints at W+K. Besides lots of cold beers and music from DJ Zia Rescue (of the Dandy Warhols), we also get the special treat of a street full of hot rods, custom cars and motorcycles (yours is welcome).
Four styles: Each local, all different. “Boy Girl Boy Girl” shares the “colorful characters of Solace to the dainty yet dangerous work of one of our faves – Sohaila Adela, Ego’s “creepy cuteness” and Kinoko’s iconic illustrations; each artist embraces and represents the culture manifested by the Great Northwest.”
